An army of volunteers sold&bsp; hot dogs, corn, desserts and drinks and side items to raise postage money to ship the items.

Veterans from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq Freedom were in attendance. Captain Mike McCawley, a chaplain stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center, formerly stationed in Iraq, spoke of the need to support our troops in combat.

While stationed in Iraq, McCawley prompted his sister-in-law, Sherry Carney of Mill Spring, to collect items for his troops. Carney then recruited Deb Williamson of Columbus, who prompted James Metcalf of WJFJ radio to put together the Singing for the Soldiers events.
