Avery is the only Western Highlands Conference team to beat Polk this season, but in their third and most important matchup, the Lady Wolverines walked away 3-1 winners. It was the third consecutive year Polk has eliminated Avery in the playoffs.
Polk forward Kaitlin Franks scored early, which set the tone for a first half that was controlled primarily by the home team. Big stops from Wolverine goalie Jazmine Bridgeman provided Polk with a 1-0 halftime lead.
Jessica Antonio added another goal with 26 minutes remaining, and Franks converted another chance a few minutes later. Brooke Campbell had three assists, two of which were throw-ins.
Avery knocked in a point-blank carom in the 69th minute but was unable to create many other legitimate threats.
