Polk County remains ‘abnormally dry’

Polk County remained &uot;abnormally dry&uot; in the latest federal drought map. Polk dropped to the abnormally dry level from moderate drought in recent weeks. Polk remains on the eastern edge of a moderate drought area that includes 14 counties in Western North Carolina, including Henderson County. The federal drought map shows 53 counties in the state at the abnormally dry level, while the other 33 counties in the state are not experiencing drought or dry conditions.
