He was born September 4, 1950, in Polk County, the son of the late Russell Grady Jones and Grace Jackson Jones. He was a retired truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Searcy.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Christie Jones of the home; one son, Russell Grady Jones of Taylorsville; a brother, William Jones of Inman, S.C.; one sister, Louise Culbreth of Inman; and a number of nephews and nieces.
