Officers have been trying to save a stray lab mix that is often seen in the IGA area of Tryon, but the department has been unable to catch the dog.&bsp; The dog will only get within about 10 feet of humans and despite the department trying to lure the dog into a trap with food, they haven&squo;t been able to catch it.

Tryon Police Chief Jeff Arrowood says the department is trying to humanely capture the dog and send it to the Foothills Humane Society for rehabilitation. Several area residents are interested in adopting the dog once it is rehabilitated, Arrowood says.

The Town of Tryon has an ordinance against dogs at large. Arrowood says the department&squo;s main concern with the dog is that it will get hit by a car or cause someone to have an accident running in the road.
