Lee Burrell

Born May 26, 1929 in Polk County, he was the son of the late Mark and Mabel Pace Burrell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 101st Airborne. He retired from Landrum Mills in Landrum after 35 years of service. Mr. Burrell was an avid gardener and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Stott Burrell of the home. Two sons, Randy Burrell (Elizabeth) of Columbus and David Burrell (Pam) of Landrum. Two daughters, Bethene B. Garrett (Ronnie) and Sonja B. Laughter (Hal Fisher, Lake Bowen, S.C.) both of Columbus. One sister, Lula Burrell of Tryon. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren Cade, Coley, Gabriel, Jansen, Bryce and Elijah Burrell, Langlee and Jarvis Garrett, Tia and Torri Laughter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2009 in Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Columbus (Green Creek Community), with Rev. Gary Lockee and Dr. Michael Keel officiating.
Burial will be in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Burrell will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
