Stuart E. Adcock Jr. of Campobello died in a single-engine plane crash around noon Tuesday near Chesnee, according to authorities. Adcock was the pilot and only person aboard the plane. He reportedly departed late Tuesday morning from Fairview Airport in Campobello, where he kept his plane. The plane went down in a rural area southwest of Chesnee near the intersection of Peachtree and Ryan roads, about 500 yards from the nearest home. The plane, a two-seater 1974 Grumman American AA-1B, was registered to Good Shepherd Community Service Inc. of Campobello, a charitable organization founded by Adcock.The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. &bsp;
