Cardinal baseball midseason report

Despite losing to 2A power Woodruff yesterday, the Cardinals (3-1, 3-0 II-1A) are ranked fifth among 1A teams in the state according to today&squo;s SCBCA polls.
Senior Dustin Morris has paced the team offensively. He leads the Cardinals in virtually every statistic, including batting average (.571), RBIs (5), runs scored, stolen bases, and he has yet to strike out this year.
He has also been solid behind the plate, with 27 put outs and five assists, while committing only one error.
On the mound, fellow senior Alex Wilson has dominated opposing lineups. He has two wins and a save to his credit, with an ERA of 0.60. He has given up only three hits in ten innings of work, which translates to an opposing batting average of .091. He has also struck out 14 batters.
Senior first baseman Justin Henson is batting .500, in addition to a pitching record of 1-0. His ERA is 1.71.
Leftfielder Tyler Burrell, a junior, has four hits in nine at-bats, and has scored four runs.
Senior second baseman Adam Pitts has a batting average of .385 and is a perfect six for six on stolen base attempts.
