Green Creek Hounds hold hunter pace Sunday, March 29

The event, which is part of the Western Carolina Hunter Pace & Trail Ride Series, will be held on John Watson Road in Green Creek, on private land that cannot be ridden at any other time.

There will be field hunter and trail rider divisions. All jumps will be optional. The entry fee includes lunch, which will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. A parent or guardian must sign a release for minors. Bring a horse with a current negative Coggins. A hard hat is required, although a waiver is available for Western riders.

First through sixth place ribbons will be awarded in both divisions.

Directions from the intersection of Hwy. 9 and 14: Take Hwy. 14 (Sandy Plains Rd.) toward and past Green Creek Hounds kennels for 5 miles. Turn right onto John Watson Rd. Go 2.3 miles to parking on left.

Directions from Hwy. 74: Take Union Rd. exit to Coxe/Sandy Plains Road. Turn right. Go 1.6 miles and turn left onto John Watson Road. Go 2.3 miles to parking on left.
