Polk softball hangs 18 runs on Asheville High

Polk pitcher Jamie Hrobak, who gave up an early run, settled down to strike out seven while only giving up two hits and one walk.
The Lady Wolverine hitters got in some batting practice against Asheville&squo;s pitching. Leading the way were Denise Edwards, Kayla Byrd, and Macie Gibbs.
Edwards went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Byrd was 3 for 4, with a run and two RBIs, and Gibbs hit 3 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.
The Lady Cougar defense had a hard time fielding the ball, as the team committed nine errors on the game. Polk, meanwhile, had one error.
Polk (2-1) takes on Thomas Jefferson Academy today at
4 p.m. at PCHS.
