Hendersonville bumps Polk from WHC tournament

This win was bigger for the Bearcats, both in scoring margin and in terms of significance. Hendersonville advanced to the semifinals of the Western Highlands Conference Tournament by beating Polk 75-53.

The Wolverines had a tough time on the glass, managing only four offensive boards and 20 fewer total rebounds than Hendersonville.

Defensively, Polk struggled to slow a balanced Bearcat attack that had four players in double figures on the night. Henderonville&squo;s Tori Sitton led all scorers with 19 points.

Kamron Kerr scored 16 points to lead Polk. Andre Overholt had 10, and Fidal Wilkins added eight.

Polk was down by 14 points at the half and quickly fell behind by 22 following an early third quarter run by the Bearcats.

The&bsp; Wolverines finished the conference tournament with an overall record of 7-18.

Hendersonville (13-8) played WHC first seed Madison Thursday night at Avery. Mountain Heritage and Mitchell squared off in the other semifinal game. The conference championship will be played tonight at 8:30 p.m.
