Polk County remains under severe drought status

Polk County remains in a severe drought, the third highest level, according to the latest federal drought map. The county is one of 10 counties in the state under severe drought, while 29 are under moderate drought and 61 are abnormally dry. Much of Upstate South Carolina remains at extreme drought, the second highest level, including most of Spartanburg and Greenville counties.
