A power outage, apparently caused by a blown transformer, left businesses, homes and schools throughout Landrum without power for more than two hours Wednesday morning. The problem reportedly occurred at a substation at Finger Street in Landrum, causing the outage at about 7:20 a.m., according to Landrum City Administrator Steve Wolochowicz. He says a city employee noticed a &uot;big glow in the sky&uot; when the generator apparently went out. Power was reportedly back on in Landrum at about 9:45 a.m., but not before students were sent home from Landrum Middle and O.P. Earle elementary schools.
