The planning board is also working on a draft sedimentation and erosion control ordinance. Polk County Commissioner Ren´e McDermott recently proposed that the planning board review a draft sedimentation and an erosion control ordinance and a mountainside and ridgetop ordinance that she provided. McDermott and her husband, Jim McDermott, both retired attorneys, volunteered to take suggestions from several attorneys to whom the county has submitted the draft mountainside and ridgetop ordinance. They would use these suggestions to come up with a draft of the two separated ordinances for zoned and unzoned areas.

The planning board also agreed to hold a workshop on Thursday, March 5 to review the new ordinances and changes to the subdivision ordinance with an attorney. The time of the workshop will be announced.

Commissioners directed the planning board to make recommendations on a sedimentaion and erosion control ordinance and a mountainside and ridgeline ordinance within 60 days.
