‘Keep the Farm Workshop’ on Feb. 11

Speakers will include: Andrew Branan, Executive Director of the N.C. Farm Transition Network, Ted Feitshans from N.C. State University and Jerry Dorsett from the DENR Office of Conservation and Community Affairs.
These speakers will talk about the need to take actions with your land, business and family to keep the farm farming. &bsp;
Local speakers will include Sally Walker, PAC, on conservation easements, Cathy Ruth, Polk County Planning, on land uses of farmland, John Bridgers, Polk Tax Assessor, on farm taxes and Shirley Odell, Farm Bureau, on farm risk protection. Bill Yarborough, Agriculture Commissioner&squo;s western representative, will discuss agricultural trends in the state.
This workshop will be valuable for both active farmers and owners of farm and forest lands.&bsp; There is no fee for the workshop and lunch will be provided.
