Evelyn Delano

She was the widow of Willard A. DeLano, USAF (ret.), who died in 2004. Born in Petersburg, Va., in 1919, she graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University) and attended graduate school at George Washington University. She was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Lt. (jg) USNR in Washington, D.C., and with the Department of State. She was also a teacher in Norfolk, Va., and later in Bangkok, Thailand and Fairfax County, Va., where the family lived for 30 years prior to retirement in Columbus. &bsp;
A lifelong lover of words, Evelyn corresponded for decades with dear friends and family and was known for her gracious and whimsical notes. She mastered e-mail at the age of 85.
Survivors include a daughter, Stacy J. DeLano of Lynchburg, Va., and a son, William M. De-
Lano, his wife, Lisa van der Steur, and their son, Charles M. DeLano, all of Minneapolis, Minn.
There will be no local service.&bsp; Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
