He was the widower of Mary Louvenia &dquo;Vennie&dquo; Ridings.

Ridings was a native of Greenville County and a son of the late James P. and Lucy Edwards Ridings. He was a retired employee of Taylor-Colquitt after 34 years of service. He attended Alverson Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by: sons James Ridings of Landrum and William Ridings of Chesnee, S.C.; daughters Mary Fowler, Lula Mae Griffin, and Tonya Ridings of Chesnee, Polly Blackwell and Jean Pruitt of Campobello. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at Eggers Funeral Chapel of Boiling Springs. Rev. Frank Bryant will officiate. Interment was in the Church Cemetery.
