&bsp;Barry Gee, directof of the Polk County Toy Run for 2008, presented checks this week to the three organizations that the Toy Run provides funds and toys to each year. The three organizations are Steps to Hope, Thermal Belt Outreach and Polk County Department of Social Services. On Saturday, November 29, 100 bikers met at the Saluda Fire Department and enjoyed barbecue provided by Green River BBQ and Hary Denton BBQ. Music was provided by Mr. C&39;s Mobile DJ. At 1:45 p.m. the bikes roared out through Saluda to Tryon to Landrum and stopped at the county courthouse in Columbus where they dropped off the toys plus the $2,250 that was raised. Gee said the event was made possible by help from the Polk County Sheriff&39;s Department and all of the county&39;s fire departments, which helped directed traffic on the parade route. He says many volunteers braved the cold and helped serve the bikers, all for the purpose of helping needy children in the county.
