Polk voter registration deadline Friday

The board of elections office says many new voters have registered for this election. As of Monday Polk County had 5,008 registered Democrats, 5,475 registered Republicans, 4,368 registered unaffiliated and 5 registered Libertarians.

Elections office staff said&bsp; they have seen more than usual walk-in and mail-in registrations in recent months.

One-stop voting this year can be done at three locations from Oct. 16 through Nov. 1. Any Polk County resident can take part in one-stop voting at any of these locations, regardless of where they live in the county.

The elections office will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Oct. 31. The Green Creek Family Life Center and Mill Spring Fire Department will be open from noon until 7 p.m. until Oct. 31. All three locations will be open on Nov. 1 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
