He was born June 3, 1951. He was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice Messorle, and his father, Loyce Lindsey Barton Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Barton; sister, Pat Weathers; brother, Fred Barton; and several aunts and cousins.

He graduated from Landrum High School and attended Clemson University, where he received an associate&squo;s degree in horticulture. He worked as a pressman at the Landrum News Leader for 25 years.

A memorial service will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
