He was the son of the late Levi Chase and Mary Lorena McDade Lockhart. He was a painter and a carpenter.

He is survived by a son, Jerry Lee Lockhart of Boiling Springs; three brothers, Burley Lockhart of Campobello, Steve Lockhart of Mill Spring and Ricky Lockhart of Sunny View; four sisters, Lucille Fowler of Maryland, Kathleen Penfield of Greer, Lee Ann Pate of Hendersonville and Violet Searcy of Mill Spring; one grandchild.

He was predeceased by a son, Billy Joe Lockhart Jr.

Graveside services were held Monday at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Phil Welchel.
