The new classroom addition is slated to be completed next summer, prior to the 2009/2010 school year.

Polk County Schools Supt. Bill Miller said the project is moving along as far as cite work goes and the construction of the building should begin in a couple of weeks.

The Polk County School Board approved bids in recent months for a total budget of $1,282,671. Of the total, $63,671 was approved to Buncombe Construction for the site work which is currently being done and $1,219,000 to Construction Logic for construction of the building.

The school board chose to use the same design as a recent classroom addition at Tryon Elementary School in an effort to save money with the only changes being to bathrooms.

The Sunny View addition will&bsp; house second, third, fourth and fifth grades.
