Zach McGowan, Daniel White and Alex Joen at work for Habitat for Humanity in Landrum. The three recently volunteered a vacation week to work alongside their mothers. While their mothers manned nail guns to install cabinets and used miter saws to cut trim molding, the boys helped with window sills and kept the construction area clear of debris. Alex, Daniel and Zach also worked outside in the early summer&squo;s heat digging trenches for French drains and re-routing some drains in preparation for the underground power supply. Leveling the dry red clay dirt posed a challenge that was taken in stride and was neatly finished. One of the mothers mentioned meeting the family who will be living in the home when completed. She said the family&squo;s gratitude toward the volunteers was truly sincere. (photo submitted)
