A native of Valley Falls, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Paul R. Upton Sr. and Pearl Johnson Upton.

She was retired from Spartanburg Regional and was a Baptist.

She is survived by a son, James Neal Upton of Landrum; two brothers, Paul R. Upton Jr. of Landrum and William T. Upton of Oakland, Calif.; and several nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Doris Ray and Carolyn Lee, both of Spartanburg.

The family received friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Bobby Pierce and Rev. David Conner.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
