Three Rutherford County teenagers are currently facing charges in Tryon for breaking into vehicles last week.
Last Wednesday around 2 a.m., Cpl. Jeff Ramsey of the Tryon Police Department observed three subjects in the IGA parking lot standing beside a pickup truck, according to the Tryon Police Department.
Cpl. Ramsey approached the subjects and engaged them in conversation. All three subjects were evasive with their answers, according to Tryon Police Chief Jeff Arrowood. Upon further investigation, Arrowood said, it was learned that the youths had broken into four vehicles in the Carolina Drive area and stolen jewelry and other articles, according to Tryon Police Chief Jeff Arrowood.
John Christopher Turner, 18, of Rutherfordton, Jerry Austin Oliver, 17, of Forest City and Robert Alden Vanbuskirk, 18, of Rutherfordton were arrested and each charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and larceny, according to the police department.
&dquo;Cpl. Ramsey and Officer Martin did an outstanding job of being vigilant in noticing suspicious behavior and acting on it during their routine patrol,&dquo; said Chief Arrowood.
