He was born in Union County and was the son of the late Isaac and Ethel Lovelace Maness.

He was a member of the Lucas Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from Milliken Mills.

Mr. Maness is survived by a daughter, Frances D. Maness of Spartanburg; two sons, Ronald W. Maness of Landrum and Martyn David Rushton of Accrington, England. He was predeceased by his wife, May R. Maness.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. in the Westview Memorial Park in Laurens.

The family will receive friends immediately after the service.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Frances D. Maness, 182 Boxwood Lane, Spartanburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lucas Avenue Baptist Church, 101 Lucas Avenue, Laurens, S.C. 29360 or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, S.C. 29307.
