Born in Watertown, S.D., she was the daughter of the late Harry Oscar and Alice Smith Herbrandson. She was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and received her master&squo;s degree from Cornell University. Mrs. Kuster retired as a home economics teacher from the state of New York.&bsp; She was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ.&bsp; Mrs. Kuster moved to Polk County in 1977, having come from Holland, N.Y., and was the widow of Ivan J. Kuster, who died in 2006.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law and 15 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 15, 2008 in the Congregational Church of Christ, Tryon, with Dr. Robert Barrows officiating.
