Friendship Council to host an evening of music and speakers at Rogers Park, July 9

In response to the tragedy at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, the Friendship Council is presenting an evening of choral music and speakers. Dr. Warren Carson is the guest speaker along with Virgil Stucker, executive director of CooperRiis, and Mark Byington.

Several groups will offer music, including selections by Lance Smith, Garrison Chapel Baptist Church and the band, 176. The event will take place at Rogers Park on July 9 from 7-8:30 p.m. In the event of rain the program will be held at First Baptist Church in Tryon behind Tryon Fine Arts Center.
