With a bid of $30,265, Prince Companies of Landrum will be commissioned by the Town of Columbus to repair Gibson Street. Columbus Town Council diagnosed the street as being in too poor a condition to continue patching, and approved Prince’s bid at the May 21 council meeting.

Approximately 2,500 square yards will be cleaned and capped with two inches of new asphalt. Included in the total cost was re-striping the center line as well as 32 parking spaces and three van spaces.

Gibson Street is a medium traffic connector for Ward Street and E. Mills Street, and is located by Columbus’ governmental complex.

Columbus’ Public Works Director, James Smith, expects the work to begin in June and be completed in just one day.
