Polk director selected for N.C. Association of Directors of Elections

Polk County Board of Elections Director Karen Lawrence was elected as honors to the N.C. Association of Directors of Elections (NCADE) during a recent conference in Forsyth County.

The conference included more than 350 election professionals from North Carolina’s 100 counties.

Elected as NCADE President was Dawn Stumpf from Chatham County; 1st vice president is Tonya Burnette of Granville County; Secretary is Carla Strickland of Columbus County; Treasurer is Rose Whitehurst of Onslow County. Lawrence was elected as honors and the Historian is Carol Soles from Cabarrus County.

Newly elected NCADE officers will serve two –year terms until 2017.

The three-day conference had a theme of “Gearing Up for 2016.” The conference included educational sessions, networking opportunities and group participation as well as the election of new officers.

The North Carolina Association of Directors of Elections was established in 1967 as a professional association dedicated to continuing education and improving the electoral process in North Carolina and the nation.
