Two of the organists who will be performing in the Foothills Music Club, Inc.’s annual organ concert in March are Carole Bartol and John Gardner.
Bartol studied organ with Dr. Larry Smith, head of the organ department at Converse College. She is a former church musician who has been both organist and choir director. She currently serves as a substitute organist at the Tryon Congregational Church.
Gardner has substituted as organist in several local churches and has presented recitals for the Advent and Lenten series at the Tryon Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross. For this concert, he will play “An Interlude” by Harold Darke and “The Sweet Rivelet” by Francis Jackson, both compositions honoring Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, on her fortieth birthday in 1974.
This concert, free and open to the public, will be held at the Tryon Congregational Church on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 3 p.m.
