Man arrested on soliciting minors by texts

1023 MarvinLaneHebbThe Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested an East Flat Rock man recently after receiving reports the man was sending inappropriate sexually explicit texts to Polk County minors.

Marvin Lane Hebb, 54, of East Flat Rock was arrested and charged on Oct. 15 with two counts of solicitation of a child by computer or other electronic device, according to sheriff reports.

A deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Oct. 10 after receiving information from minors they were receiving the sexually explicit in nature texts for the past three months.

The deputy followed up with the number the minors gave the sheriff’s office and discovered the number belonged to Hebb.

Hebb was also being investigated at the same time by another agency for similar crimes, according to the sheriff’s office. Hebb was questioned by Polk County and confessed to sending the texts to the minors, according to the report.

Hebb turned himself into the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and received a $16,000 bond. He was released later that day after posting bond. Hebb was given a court date of Nov. 5.
