Program starts for young drivers

During the week from Feb. 23 through March 2, 2014, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office answered 142 calls. There were three felony arrests, eight misdemeanor arrests, 18 civil papers served, 12 criminal papers served and 17 citations issued.
Officers assisted other agencies six times, completed 358 house checks, 360 church checks, 521 business checks, assisted the public eight times and patrolled 6,701 miles.
