Saluda approves resolution for master bicycle/pedestrian plan

The City of Saluda plans to apply for grant funding made available through the N.C. Department of Transportation (DOT) to create a bicycle and pedestrian master plan.

Saluda City Council met Nov. 12 and approved a resolution in support of the city applying for funding. The resolution states that Saluda is committed to improving safety, protecting the environment and public health and creating an opportunity for the surrounding community to improve their quality of life through bicycle and pedestrian transportation.

The city plans to apply for funding through the DOT’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Initiative.

The N.C. Small Town Main Street Program committee has made pedestrian connectivity a top priority for Saluda and has agreed to help the city with the grant application process.
