Rotary honors veterans

Published 8:15pm Monday, November 19, 2012

The Rotary Club of Tryon conducted a flag ceremony in recognition of its members who are veterans of the armed services at its weekly meeting preceding Veterans Day.

The ceremony included a brief tribute to each branch of the United States military with a presentation of the flags representing each branch of service.

During the ceremony, the veterans led the club members in the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem. The veterans pictured represent a total of more than 300 years of military service and include veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

The Rotary Club of Tryon wishes to express its gratitude to all veterans for their honorable service.  The program was arranged by Rotarian Hugh Hursey.
