My brother’s keeper, a cat story

I gave her a big hug and said, “Please go get it and bill my fund.”
The operation was set up for the morning after next and I went home to comfort Niles and tell him his brother would be back soon.
I checked in after work the day of the operation and was told that Frazier did well and it all went smoothly.
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Donna said, handing me the stone.  “I’d like to send it off to be tested.”
I gave her permission to do so and took the stone. It looked like a miniature mace ball that was used in medieval battles. It felt like hard plastic and pinched when you pressed it.
“This had to be painful, Donna.”
“He’s fine now, Lennie. You could probably take him home in two days.”
“He’s sweet, isn’t he, Donna?”
“He purred all the way till we put him under,” she replied.
“Thanks doc,” I said, hugging her again.
We held on to the boys till last Friday and then brought them back to FHS to hopefully be adopted.  I have so enjoyed having them in my home and I pray someone will give them a forever home.  All they need is food, love and a litter box.
On the day I picked up Frazier, another one of my kids, sweet Georgia, was in the cage next to him being treated for worms.  Georgia is one of my three-legged angels. I reached in and stroked them both at the same time and received countless purrs of love.  Below was the sweet white pit bull, Patches, who was having her nails clipped. Patches is the girl who taught me that there’s always room for one more.
Suddenly a warm glow washed over me and I tearfully looked up to the heavens and whispered, “What would I do without You?”
Thanks for listening.
