Tyson Graham will hold a spring pottery sale on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. A diverse selection of Graham’s redware and stoneware will be on display in the picturesque showroom of Little Mountain Pottery, 6148 Peniel Road, Tryon, N.C. a pillar of Tryon’s arts community founded over 40 years ago by Claude and Elaine Graves.

Graham, an artist and musician from Columbia, S.C., moved to Tryon last February to complete a one-year apprenticeship with the Graves. As their apprentice, he explored some of the earthenware and stoneware techniques that they developed and refined throughout their artistic careers.

After immersing himself in their ceramic processes, as well as navigating the intricacies of becoming a small business owner, Graham has adapted his skills in painting and design to his new career as a potter. The regionally inspired depictions of plants and animals carry over from his drawings and oil paintings, and pots become canvasses for conveying life in the Foothills of North Carolina.

The arrival of spring brings fresh color to our gardens, fields, and woods. Graham’s work reflects these seasonal changes, with depictions of flowers ranging from daffodils to dogwoods, and trees dotted with fresh foliage. Stop by this Saturday to bring home a bit of nature’s beauty captured in clay and glaze.
