The Tryon Riding & Hunt Club’s College Scholarship Program will be accepting applications from local high school and college students who are local equestrians through April 17.
“We are pleased to offer these annual scholarships to deserving students who are residents of the North Carolina counties of Polk, Hendersonville, Rutherfordton or the South Carolina counties of Spartanburg and Greenville,” says Terry Lynch, TR&HC President. “The club has set aside $5,000 for the scholarship program, and amount of individual scholarships may vary, but will be no lower than $500.”
Recipients must meet two criteria:
• A high school graduating senior or student currently attending an institution of higher learning.
• Membership in a local or national equestrian organization. These include the TR&HC, Blue Ridge Hunter Jumper Association, the U.S. Pony Club, Tryon Hounds, Green Creek Hounds, Tot Goodwin Hounds, U.S. Equestrian Federation and the U.S. Eventing Association. Students also may be active participants in the equine industry in Polk, Hendersonville, Rutherfordton, Spartanburg and Greenville counties.
