On Saturday, May 7, over 400 students in 15 middle school show choirs from across North Carolina will gather at Cox Mill High School in Concord to compete in the fifth annual William Peace University North Carolina High School Show Choir Competition.

Show Choir is an incredibly popular competition where choirs both sing and dance.  This year’s middle school choirs will present everything from a medley of pop songs about dance like “Shut Up and Dance with Me” to selections from “Beautiful, the Carole King Musical.”

Performances will kick off at 9:30 a.m. The event will be in a preliminary-finals format, with morning awards at 12:10 p.m., afternoon awards at 4:20 p.m., and the finals round featuring the top six middle schools from the day beginning at 5:20 p.m. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, Rutherford County will be performing.

Show Choir is one of 23 competitions that will determine the best high school and middle school in the state. The NCASA Scholastic Cup and NCSSM Challenge Cup will be awarded to the high schools and middle schools with the best overall performance among the 23 major scholastic competitions in North Carolina. Points are awarded for participation and excellence in NCASA and partner competitions.
