“The Reluctant Dragon” flies into Super Saturday

All Hands puppeteers will present “The Reluctant Dragon,” a tale of friendship and understanding, at Super Saturday March 19.

All Hands puppeteers will present “The Reluctant Dragon,” a tale of friendship and understanding, at Super Saturday March 19.

What would you do if your new best friend, the dragon, was about to be hunted down by a famous dragon slayer? How could you make the king understand that he’s not that kind of dragon?

All Hands Productions investigates this dilemma in their adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s “The Reluctant Dragon,” to appear as part of the Tryon Super Saturday lineup on March 19.

Founded by puppeteer David Stephens, All Hands has been entertaining audiences for more than a decade. A graduate of University of Connecticut’s Puppet Arts program, and veteran of the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts, Stephens has received a number of fellowships and awards, including the UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence for his outstanding work in the art of puppetry.

“The Reluctant Dragon” uses both moving-mouth and rod puppets to relate this story of friendship and understanding. Come see it at 10:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. at the Tryon Congregational Church.
