Landrum area schools on lockdown following Gowensville robbery

Landrum area schools were on a brief lockdown Friday afternoon following a Dollar General robbery on Hwy 11 in Gowensville, according to Sandra Williams, director of public information for District One schools in Spartanburg County.

Landrum High School, Landrum Middle School, O.P. Earle Elementary, Holly Springs-Motlow Elementary and Campobello-Gramling School were each affected by the 30-minute lockdown. School administrators were on site at each school to monitor the situation while law enforcement ensured the situation was under control.

The suspect was apprehended at approximately 1 p.m., according to Williams, and the lockdown was subsequently lifted.
