Snow date! Studio/gallery opening on Friday

Carri Bass invites the community to a rescheduled open house for her gallery and studio this Friday from 4-9 p.m.

Carri Bass invites the community to a rescheduled open house for her gallery and studio this Friday from 4-9 p.m.

Now that the snow is melting, get ready for a re-scheduled opening celebration at Carri Bass Photography in downtown Tryon this Friday, Jan. 29, from 4 – 9 p.m., at 25 S. Trade Street, upstairs from the green iron gate. Lavender Bistro is catering the appetizers, wine is from La Bouteille, and Matt Conley of Charlotte is DJ’ing the music.

“I’m really excited about involving local businesses,” says Carri. “Ross and the crew at Lavender Bistro have been wonderful about putting together a set of appetizers, and La Bouteille has some perfect wines for the occasion. I hope people will come to downtown Tryon, see the studio and art exhibit, and then go out for dinner. There are half a dozen restaurants just steps away, and even more within half a mile. La Bouteille even does wine tastings on the same night!”

The main event for the evening is a new art exhibit by Bailie. The exhibit will run until mid-March. Bailie is one of the best-known modern artists to come out of Spartanburg, S.C., and is recognized for his compelling, often surreal, artwork. The new exhibit, called Abstruction, is a series of abstract paintings with themes ranging from space to landscapes.

“I never do the same thing twice,” says Bailie, “and I wanted to create a show for Carri’s studio that would really hit the right note in terms of the overall feel. After hanging the art, I’m delighted by how well it meshes with the studio.”

After Friday night’s event, Carri Bass Photography will be open for business as a full-service photography studio, shooting both in-studio and on location. Carri says, “The building is perfect—the studio section is cozy and separate, with lots of natural light and an area for people to change outfits if needed, and the art gallery section is spacious and open. I couldn’t be happier with the setting.”

In addition to highlighting Carri’s photography, the gallery will show diverse new art on a regular basis.  The next new show will be in late March.

Carri Bass Photography is opening at 25-A South Trade Street in Tryon. For more information, contact Carri at 864-598-9880 or carri@carribass.com or visit www.carribass.com.
