Tryon Concert Association presents guitarist Peter Fletcher in TGIF Concert

TCAPeterFletcherWEB

The Tryon Concert Association will present guitarist Peter Fletcher at the Tryon Fine Arts Center, Friday, March 18, at 6 p.m. for a performance of classical music. This one-hour program is the second in the TGIF series, which provides an informal relaxing way to start the weekend.

Peter Fletcher began his study of the guitar at age seven under classical guitar instructors John Sutherland and Jose Tomas (Andres Segovia’s teaching assistant in Spain). Over the years he has studied with noted artists including Pepe Romero.

He obtained his master of music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1995. Mr. Fletcher has been the winner of many major international competitions and has performed widely across the United States. He made his New York debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2007, and returned in 2008, 2009 and 2010, each to completely sold-out houses.

Mr. Fletcher has been heard on numerous radio and television programs. His recordings on Centaur Records include works of Erik Satie, Music of Four Centuries (Jean-Philippe Rameau, Francois and Louis Couperin and others), and an all-Grieg album. His most recent release is an album of Christmas favorites. Fletcher himself transcribed many of these works for the guitar.

Quoted in Fanfare Magazine: “Fletcher plays it all with a gracious virtuosity that makes for a very pleasing hour of unaffected musical poetry.”

A wine and beer bar will be available in the lobby of TFAC at 5:30 preceding the concert at 6 p.m. Tickets for the TGIF series are sold separately from the regular season series and can be purchased at the TFAC box office before the concert or through the Tryon Concert Association, P.O. Box 32, Tryon, N.C. 28782. Visit   tryonconcerts.org for more information.
