Tryon Painters and Sculptors to host cartoonist Michael White
Cartooning and comic strip illustration are extremely popular among teens and adults. This lucrative art form is created for entertainment, political commentary, or advertising, and can be seen in animation, storyboards, posters, shirts, greeting cards, and video game packaging.
It takes a special eye for the humorous or the dramatic and the ability to transform that unique look into a caricature or cartoon. Michael White is one artist who has the capability of seeing the humor or excitement in a situation and translate it into an illustration that is attention getting and amazingly like the person or character he is representing.
Tryon Painters and Sculptors hosted Michael White in the past for pastel workshops, and now he is returning to do three one-day workshops specializing in
cartooning. The workshops will take place on Saturday, April 9, or Sunday, April 10 or Monday, April 11. Students may sign up for one or more of the workshops. There is a special student price for teens between 12 and 18 years of age.
Michael White has been drawing cartoons and comics since he was two years old. His experience includes published comic strips, editorial illustration, logo design, album and cd covers, board games, coloring books, character development, T-shirt designs, story boards, magazine covers, featured articles, TV appearances, publisher, and original comics published by Marvel, DC and Topps Comics.
He comes to us from the Ringling College of Art in Sarasota Florida where he graduated with honors and has instructed all ages for over 23 years. You can read more about Michael and see his broad scope of work at www.michaelwhiteart.biz
