Man dies in one-vehicle crash on I-26 Thursday

One man was killed in a one-vehicle crash along I-26 on Thursday morning, May 26.

The crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. on the Saluda Grade near mile marker 65, two miles from Columbus.

The crash killed the 63-year old driver. As of press time, his name had still not been released.

Emergency crews from Polk County responded and said a witness saw the SUV run off the road and overcorrected, then flip several times.

The accident closed one lane of traffic for some time and caused congestion on the interstate for a couple of hours.
