What is baroque? Find out at “Cello Times Two”

Baroque is derived from the Portuguese “barroco” or “oddly shaped pearl.” Comparing some of music’s greatest masterpieces, like Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” to a misshapen pearl sounds strange.  Ah well, some in the 19th century considered the music of Bach and Vivaldi to be too ornamented and exaggerated. Not today!

Join us for a Baroque Afternoon on Sunday, April 17 at 3 p.m. with Cello Times Two at the Landrum United Methodist Church for 50 minutes of bliss, without intermission.

Two cellos, with the talent of Brenda Leonard and Benjamin Smith, will vibrate your soul. Free and open to all. Bring a friend and they will be grateful and happy. Everyone gets chocolate cellos times two. Some lucky person gets a giant chocolate cello!
