Ray Miles died peacefully with his wife at his side on October 3, 2024, at the Landrum Hospice House.
He was born April 1, 1942, in Jacksboro, Texas but lived in White Settlement, Texas until he graduated. He was 1 of 7 children and the only one born in a hospital. He spent 4 years in the Army serving in Korea followed by the only profession he ever had. He worked for the Glidden Paint Company for 38 years starting as a truck driver and working his way up through the ranks to be Vice-President of Accounting for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. He retired at the age of 57 and built a home with his wife, Barbara in the foothills of Tryon.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his only remaining sibling Norma Jean Kerr (Phil) of Springtown, Texas.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, gardening, doing a Viking Rhine River cruise, watching TCU college football, and listening to country music, especially George Jones. His infectious smile will be missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2025.
