On Monday, September 23, the Tryon Men’s Golf Association played a 1-2-3 Best Ball format and closest-to-the-pin contests on both par 3’s. There were eight teams competing on a beautiful day for golf. The results were as follows:

 

1st place – Russ Rabenstein, Rody Dayvault, Jerry Perry, Dave Hosick

2nd place – Mike Bates, Bill Kelly, Ken Shull, Don Jaeger

3rd place – Vic Ketchman, Jim Diggs, Ed Weatherby, Richard Barraud

 

Closest-to-the-pin winners:

#3 – Mike Bates – 7’ 8”

#3 Forward Tee – Tom Bolling – 3’ 4”

#8 – Russ Rabenstein – 19’ 6”

#8 Forward Tee – Bill Kelly – 13’ 4”

 

On Tuesday, September 24, the Tryon Women’s Golf Association played a Captain’s Choice format and a closest-to-the-pin contest on #3. Six teams played golf and then had a nice lunch in the clubhouse. The golf results were as follows:

 

1st place – Nancy Mahler, Ann Gargiulo, Cindy Caldwell – 36

2nd place – Kathy Clark, Peggy Henson, Becky Kennedy – 38

3rd place – Tie – Bonnie Sakos, Jo Ann Silvia, Caroline Brown, Lib McKeller – 39

Tie – Marge Avery, Lisa Bjerring, Nancy Hiley, Heidi Shull – 39

 

Closest-to-the-pin on #3 – Bonnie Sakos – 14’ 3 ½”
