TRYON—The Foothills Aquatic Club, a newly established competitive AAU swim team in Polk County, recently organized a fundraising car wash at the Old Mill Market Square to cover registration costs for upcoming meets and the volunteer coach’s travel expenses.
A parent-led swim team, FAC accommodates children of all ages, starting from 5 years old, from Polk County and the surrounding area. This inclusive team welcomes swimmers of different skill levels, especially beginners, and seeks to promote a love for swimming among young individuals.
The team, affectionately known as the Dolphins, currently holds swimming sessions at the Lifestyles Wellness & Spa in Forest City. Future plans include utilizing the Gibson Park swimming pool and, once constructed, the Polk County YMCA for regular training and meets.
They currently swim in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. with their homeschool team. They are working to put together an afternoon team in the future for interested kids who attend public school.
Under the guidance of their dedicated coach, Michael Crisp, a seasoned competitive swimmer and experienced swim instructor, the team is making strides in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for young swimmers. Coach Crisp has generously volunteered his time and expertise to nurture the team’s passion for swimming and help young kids develop their skills.
The success of the car wash fundraiser can be attributed to the generous contribution of supplies by team parent Jeremy Harding, a National Sales Manager for NASIOL nano coatings, which made the products used during the event.
The car wash not only raised funds but also brought the community together in support of the FAC’s mission to promote swimming among local youth.
Individuals interested in joining the Foothills Aquatic Club and being a part of this growing swim team are encouraged to visit the club’s Facebook page for more information on membership and upcoming practices.
