The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “1-2-3 Best Ball” format on August 12, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on both par 3’s. There were nine teams competing for the win, and the results were as follows:

 

1st place – Jerry Pospisil, Bill Basye, Richard Barraud, (BP-Jim Diggs) – 54

2nd place – Mike Bates, Charles McKeller, Ken Shull, (BP-Jerry Pospisil) – 57

3rd place – Doug Gelbert, Mike Burrell, Art Brown, Don Jaeger – 58

4th place – Brad Rakow, Mike Sullivan, Jim Diggs, (Tom Bolling) – 59

 

Closest-to-the-pin winners:

#3 – Jim Diggs – 5’ 8”

#3 Forward – Jack Saunders – 11’ 2”

#8 – Mike Sullivan – 29’ 8”

#8 Forward – Jerry Perry – 5’ 11 ½”
